| Bio: | A bit of a recap for anyone who hasn't read this blog from the start. As the title of the blog tells you, this is the tale of two novels. In fact, it's two stories, woven into one. One of them (I'll call it Story A) is the story my first novel, Of Marriagebale Age, which was published in 1999. In all the posts where you see Snoopy typing away on the doghouse roof, I'm back in time telling that story. Story B is in the present day. Stpry A will eventuially lead seamlessly into Story B; you'l find out what went wrong with my first venture into the world of publishing, and why; the mistakes I made, and how they could have been avoided, and what I learned from them. If you're about to be published yourself, or hope to be soon, or dearming of it, it 's a glimpse behind the scenes. I was naive back then, and knew nothing of the world I was stepping into. I wore the traditional rose-tinted glasses - don't we all - and it would have done me good to take them off now and again. Story B is my present-day story, the one I've got my eyes on most. It's a quiet time right now: I've got my wonderful agent, I've done the revisions, the manuscript it ready for submission to publishers - but we're waiting till January to go ahead. I feel conten and optimistic. My gut feeling is good. And one thing is different: I'm doing it publicly - me the most private person in the world!
